The following article appeared in the Brisbane Courier Mail today and talks about the new photography trend called "Trash the dress" if you are a regular reader of my blog you will already know that i have been excited about this concept for the last 6 months. I was contacted by Paddy from the Brisbane Courier Mail and interviewed about this new trend, they then interviewed 2 of the brides that i have photographed, it's a coincidence that the PMA is currently setting up in Brisbane, this is the largest photographic show in the country and is in Brisbane every 4 years, the article is at the end of the section promoting the show.

Shane & Emma's Wedding
Shane and Emma got married on Saturday at St John's Anglican Church at Burleigh heads, then had the reception and photos at Elevation restaurant on Tallebudgera beach.
The whole day went off with out a hitch (Except for Tom, Emma's father leaving his speech in Sydney) After the service and family photos were finished we all went down to the beach for the private shoot. I really liked the location and i will use it again for a "Trash the dress" shoot if i can convince Emma to do it.
Emma & Shane are child hood sweethearts and are very comfortable together so we were able to get some great casual photos as well as some traditional posed images. Emma's 2 other sisters were bridesmaids, so it was a family affair.
Congratulations on such a great and relaxed wedding.

Nicola & Justin Trashing Photos

On Sunday afternoon I went down to the Gold Coast to do another "Trash The Dress" shoot. I have photographed Nicolas family previously, and when she came to my studio for her family portrait viewing she saw my "Trash the dress" print on the wall. When i explained what it was she was very keen to do a shoot as well.
Nicola has been married a while but it was a great excuse to wear the wedding dress again, I think a lot of brides never expect to wear there dress again, so when you can present a opportunity too, they jump at it. Having such a very different concept of what sort of images I want to create, people really embrace at the opportunity of doing something a little different and a bit outside the square.
This was a little different as we had some of the bridal party to trash too, the shoot was done on the north side of the gold coast spit where the water is calm and there are very few waves. This gave me the opportunity to do something different from my other shoots.
Greg Norris came along to second shoot for me and got some fantastic images of the kids together, also he was a great to have help in trying to perfect my overhead shots. (Still working on them, but getting there).
Thanks to Nicola & Justin for being so much fun to shoot.
I hope you like the images...Enjoy
